MESSAGE FROM NIU FOUNDATION BOARD CHAIR

On behalf of the NIU Foundation, I extend our heartfelt sympathies to the families and friends of the students who lost their lives in this profound tragedy. Our hearts also go out to those still fighting for their lives and those dealing with wounds of body, mind, and spirit.

The events of the past few days have been an unprecedented test of the strength and character of the NIU community, and we in the Foundation are proud of the competence, professionalism, and compassion with which the university has responded. We are grateful to those who have extended their hearts and their hands as we rebuild our academic community with pride and a renewed commitment to our ideals of access and opportunity.

In honor of the precious student lives lost, we will move forward and continue to provide life-changing opportunities for our hardworking and grateful students, and in honor of university community, we will prepare for brighter days again at Northern Illinois University.
